The twilight is baby blue, which makes the marigolds in the square almost neon.
Back in Prague!

Thursday, July 13, 2006

I am in the States a week now. It's hard to adjust, namely because Prague is literally thousands of miles away and belongs to another world. I sometimes feel that either Prague is a dream, or my being in America is. To keep things real, Houston mosquitoes have bitten me 32 times on my legs. Yes, that's right. THIRTY-TWO.

20 to 31.July:: NYC
3 to 8.August:: somewhere in West Texas
11 to 14.August:: Austin
29.August:: depart for Prague

Harry Crews said, "Nothing good in the world has ever been done by well-rounded people. The good work is done by people with jagged, broken edges, because those edges cut things and leave an imprint, a design."

And he said, "Writers spend all their time preoccupied with just the things that their fellow men and women spend their time trying to avoid thinking about. ... It takes great courage to look where you have to look, which is in yourself, in your experience, in your relationship with fellow beings, your relationship to the earth, to the spirit or to the first cause—to look at them and make something of them."

"My great mistake, the fault for which I can't forgive myself, is that one day I ceased my obstinate pursuit of my own individuality." Oscar Wilde

I've been busy avoiding that.

I'll be in the States for July & August, need the time to regroup, rethink, recharge, restructure....
